In February, a small group of year 7 and Year 8 pupils had the opportunity to visit Eastbourne college and try their hand at stop-motion animation.
The day began with creating their own material for animation, for which they had lots of options including drawing in charcoal or pastels, printing with various textures, using fonts and creating with collage. They devised which parts of their design were going to be the parts that ‘moved’ and were shown how to do this by taking successive photographs of their image and inserting these into the animation software. Backgrounds were also created, before superimposing their animation on top.
It was very exciting to see what the pupils had created! All of the pupils said how much fun they had thinking up and creating their short films.
After lunch, pupils also got to sample a little of Eastbourne college in a couple of activities in other areas of the school, before heading off to the Towner Art Gallery for some Art inspiration!
Finally, there was tea and an exhibition for the children, parents and visitors with a showing of the children’s work.
