Bonfire Night went off with a bang with a record turnout descending upon the Colts Pitch.
The fabulous bonfire was adorned with the wonderful Guys that had been entered into the competition (see below). The impressive stature of ‘Ultra Processed Man’ stood proudly at the top, towering over proceedings.
The children’s faces were aglow with the lights from their purchases from the Glow Shop, whilst sticky fingers clutched at candyfloss and hot chocolates. The newly defined bar area was the place to be, with everyone enjoying a tipple or two! Hats off to the catering team for producing some delicious food, with the Mac ‘n’ Cheese being the sell-out product this year.
The fireworks display was a sight to behold and the chorus of ‘oohs and aahs’ was testament to the spectacle put on. A fitting tribute at the end of the finale were the white and blue ‘150’ lances that lit up beautifully and garnered a round of applause and cheers from the crowd.
As always, a huge thank you to everyone who so kindly volunteered their time on the evening, we couldn’t put on the event without you and your enthusiasm and hard work is greatly appreciated. Also a special thanks to the grounds, maintenance and catering teams for all of their hard work in supporting us in putting on this event for the school community.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming Christmas Events!
Guy Making Competition
This year we were delighted to host a Guy making competition with 6 valiant creations entered. Our judge, Mr Everest was suitable impressed with the amount of creativity, engineering and ingenuity that was on display. It was a tough contest with some time taken over deliberation. However, the sheer impressiveness of the Year 7 boy’s ‘Ultra Processed Man’ proved to be too difficult to beat and so they were announced as winners and were given pride of place on top of the bonfire. There is a trophy to be presented in due course. A special mention to go to Georgia and Arabella Eslor-Innerd for their genius use of a pumpkin for ‘Stella the Superhero’s’ head. Mr Everest particularly liked the eco/sustainable source of material! Well done to all who took part, they all looked fantastic and really added a sense of fun to the bonfire.
