Our Staff Snapshot Interview this week is with one of our new Games Coaches, Mr Trachonitis, otherwise known by the children as Mr T!
What inspired you to be a teacher?
My Primary School PE Teacher and coaching Primary School pupils across Cardiff.
Tell us about your path into teaching:
I started coaching sport from an early age and continued during my sports degree. I then spent some time as Teaching Assistant before doing my PGCE in Primary Education, specialising in PE.
Any interesting experiences/ qualifications/ former careers:
I spent the last 7 years living in Japan and working as the Head of Primary PE at The British School in Tokyo.
What do you love most about teaching?
That every day is different and the energy of the pupils is infectious.
What were you like at school?
I was quiet in class and took any opportunity to play sport that I could.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A policeman with a police dog.
What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Too hard to choose one. I've had lots of proud moments from little lightbulb moments in a PE lesson to seeing teams improve, as well as leading big overseas trips and events.
What are you most excited about at Marlborough House this term/year?
I'm excited to see how the pupils get on in the football season as that is my specialist sport.
What makes Marlborough House such a special place to be?
Its community. I have felt so welcomed and supported since starting this year.
