Our Year 6 pupils enjoyed a Science trip to the kitchen garden at the Hunter family’s Oak and Ivy pub and the grain stores and seed cleaning and treating machine at the Budd family’s Stevens Farm
These visits were a great kick-start to their seed dispersal and germination topic in class and fascinating to find out more about how farmers, gardeners and restauranteurs work closely with nature and biology to produce our food. They learnt about no till or regenerative agriculture, preserving soil health and producing food in a greener, more sustainable way.
Many thanks to the Hunter and Budd families for hosting the children.
