At the end of June, we were delighted to be able to celebrate our love of books, albeit a little later than normal, having had to cancel our normal Book Week in March. Happily, we were able to reschedule and we enjoyed a wonderful week.
We all enjoyed browsing through the wonderful book selection in our Book Fair on Monday and Tuesday then we ended the week with a joyful dressing up day on Friday. As ever, we had such an amazing range of characters from wizards and witches; classic characters such as Pippi Longstocking and The Queen of Hearts and more recent but tremendously popular heroes such as Hermione Grainger and Percy Jackson.
We welcomed two visiting authors on the Thursday and Friday and they kept us hugely entertained: Ross Welford had children in Years 5-8 spellbound with his magic tricks and inspirational workshops on writing the first chapter of an exciting story, whilst Steve Cole had the children from Reception to Year 4 in stitches with his whacky sense of humour, musical mastery and storytelling skills.
What a lovely way to wind down to the end of a long and busy term and to inspire the children to spend some of their holidays lost in the company of a really good book.
Happy reading and happy holidays!
